Lanarkshire crook fleeces employer by transferring £41k into wife's bank account

John Speirs was a trusted manager who thought he wasn’t being paid enough.

A trusted manager who thought he wasn’t being paid enough stole tens of thousands of pounds from his employers, a court heard.

Police formally requested information from the bank involved to establish who operated the account. It was Speirs’ wife. Sheriff Peter Hammond commented: “He didn’t get paid enough so he decided to appropriate money for himself. He’s trying to justify himself for his actions.”
