Australian captain Meg Lanning has led Australia to a sixth successive World Cup victory with a dominant hundred against South Africa.

Megan Lanning covered for an injured Ellyse Perry with a superb captain’s century against South Africa to continue Australia’s unbeaten run in the Women’s World Cup.

Clear on top of the table with six wins, Australia could easily rest Perry from the last remaining regular match against lowly Bangladesh on Friday ahead of the semi-finals during the middle of next week.Lanning now has 15 one-day centuries, four more than the only other player in double figures, New Zealand’s Suzie Bates with 11. Ten of those Lanning centuries have come during run-chases.

South Africa’s strong batting performance was once again built around opener Laura Wolvaardt , who overtook Haynes as the leading run scorer in the World Cup with 350 at an average of 70. Haynes has 337 at 67 from an extra match. Both were then overtaken by Lanning.
