Laos authorities have banned the sale and consumption of Tiger Vodka and Tiger Whisky following a methanol poisoning incident that resulted in six tourist deaths. The factory producing these products has been ordered to close until safety standards are met.
A document from Laos ' Ministry of Health's Department of Food and Drugs orders the prohibition of selling and consuming Tiger Vodka and Tiger Whisky , and the closure of the factory that produces them. The factory owner and three foreign nationals working at Nana Backpackers Hostel have been arrested, though no charges have been laid. Evidence suggests the methanol poisoning outbreak that killed six tourists is linked to this factory.
