Police said door-to-door enquiries have begun and urged any witnesses to come forward
As an attempted murder enquiry gets underway in Edwalton, forensics can be seen shuffling in and out of a home in the suburb. The house, on Wheatcroft Drive, is part of the newly-built Edwalton Chase estate, on which construction started back in 2019.
Police were called to a property at around 12.45am on Wednesday, May 29, to reports a man had been "repeatedly stabbed". A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.Police said those involved were thought to be known to each other and said they do not believe there is a threat to the wider community. to help with the investigation.
At the scene, those clad in white protective suits, hair nets and face masks, all too familiar with a scene like this, are collecting materials from crime scene investigation vans for use inside the house and carrying evidence boxes to collect items from the scene. One examiner is seen cradling a huge see-through plastic bag under his arm and carrying another with his latex-gloved right hand.
“Officers have already begun conducting door to door inquiries and our investigation into what happened is well underway. We believe that this was a targeted incident and that those involved were known to each other. As such, we do not believe there is a wider threat to the community.
