The Federal Communications Minister Paul Fletcher has announced Melbourne's community TV station Channel 31, credited with discovering some of Australia's finest showbiz talent, will stay on the air for another year.
The government has given Melbourne community TV station Channel 31 a last-minute reprieve, allowing it to stay on air for another year while it transitions to a digital-only broadcasting model.
Communications Minister Paul Fletcher has given Melbourne community TV station one more year of life on free-to-air TV.
Mr Fletcher declined to say whether the government would give Channel 31 money to help it make the jump to online broadcasting but said Adelaide's Channel 44 will also get the one year extension.
