HBO's The Last of Us season 2 has Ellie actor Bella Ramsey fearing for one brutal moment from the original sequel video game, The Last of Us Part II.
Bella Ramsey recently admitted she fears The Last of Us season 2 due to one moment from the original video game. HBO's popular horror drama stars Ramsey as Ellie, a precocious 14-year-old orphan who carries an immunity to the zombie-causing fungal infection that devastated the world. When Joel is tasked to safely escort Ellie across a post-apocalyptic United States to reach the revolutionary faction known as the Fireflies, the two form an unbreakable bond formed through hardship.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Speaking with Esquire, Ramsey revealed The Last of Us season 2 has her fearing for one moment from the original game. The upcoming season will be based on 2020's The Last of Us Part II which saw Ellie seek revenge when someone close to her is tortured and murdered. In reference to that traumatic sequence, Ramsey admitted she is not "ready" for the scene.
Before entering Maria and Tommy's survivor community in Jackson, Wyoming, Ellie seemingly accepts Joel's lie. However, it is clear that doubt remains. The Last of Us season 2 will see Ellie learn to become a productive member of a functional society while wrestling with the events of Salt Lake City. The remaining suspicion may cause her to pull away from Joel, straining the relationship they built during their perilous cross-country journey.
HBO's The Last of Us series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann previously stated season 2 will adhere to the story of the sequel video game. Although there may be changes to certain secondary narrative elements, similar to season 1, the series will remain faithful to what came before. This will likely include the major death that sparks Ellie's violent quest for revenge.
