The last ever leader of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev, who played a pivotal role in ending the Cold War which earned him the Nobel Peace Prize, has died aged 91.
Gorbachev died at the Russian Central Clinical Hospital outside of Moscow on Wednesday after a “serious and protracted disease”, according to Interfax news agency.
