Last-gasp goal denies watfordfc victory at league leaders
Seconds. That was all that stood between Watford and victory over league leaders Burnley before they suffered the heartbreak of conceding a scrambled equaliser deep into stoppage time.
There was no doubt the home side dominated for long periods and as the game wore on it became wave after wave of Burnley attacks. It seemed, though, like Watford were going to hand Burnley their first home defeat of the season as the hosts were looking like they had run out of ideas. Matheus Martins and Henrique Araujo dropped to the bench, where Imran Louza was involved for the second consecutive game after injury.
Burnley were enjoying the lion’s share of possession but Watford were getting men behind the ball and pressing the home defence when they got a sniff of nicking the ball.A back pass to Muric was chased down by both Davis and Pedro. The keeper took longer than he had and only sliced the ball up in the air on the edge of the box.
