The situation could have been worse infinitely worse for Australia if not for Marsh, replacing Cameron Green after he succumbed to a hamstring strain. The ultra-aggressive Travis Head looked scratchy at the other end, but Marsh had no such issues, attacking and striking cleanly from the jump, although he was dropped by Joe Root while on 12.
That was the first wicket in a collapse of 6-23, with recalled tearaway Mark Wood cleaning up the tail to finish with 5-34 from his 11.4 overs.
