In its first detailed forecast maps issued for the upcoming storm, the weather service is predicting 8 to 12 inches of snow across Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic and Cape May counties, along with most of Burlington and parts of Camden, Cumberland and Gloucester counties. The snow forecast maps were issued late Wednesday afternoon and will likely be updated Thursday morning, after the latest rounds of computer guidance models come out and forecasters get a better picture of how the atmospheric pattern will set up.
Another issue forecasters are grappling with is the inconsistency of major computer guidance models. Usually when a storm is a couple of days away from reaching us, the models will show more consistency and reach a general consensus on the storm track.
