A law enforcement officer and a suspect were shot Wednesday afternoon at the PlazAmericas shopping mall in Sharpstown, authorities said.

HPD officers returned fire at the suspect, who was struck by gunfire, said Doug Griffith, President of the Houston Police Officers Union.
