Richard Belzer, best known for his role on ‘Law & Order: SVU,’ has died at age 78, Universal Television and NBC say in a statement.
Universal Television and NBC issued a joint statement Sunday issuing condolences upon news of Benson's death.
But then in 1993, Belzer landed a regular role on"Homicide: Life on the Street," a serial drama about the homicide department in Baltimore. It was the first time he'd appear as John Munch , a detective that would soon become synonymous with Belzer. "Goodbye my dear, dear friend. I will miss you, your unique light, and your singular take on this strange world," she said."I feel blessed to have known you and adored you and worked with you, side by side, for so many years. How lucky the angels are to have you. I can hear them laughing already."
