A young British lawyer has become the latest person to die from a suspected mass poisoning in South-East Asia, as the death toll climbs to five people dead.
Simone White, 28, fell ill last week when she was among dozens of tourists who consumed what has been reported to be free shots at a hostel's bar in Laos .
Ms White was a lawyer with international law firm Squire Patton Boggs, specialising in general commercial matter, intellectual property and technology laws. “Urgent — please avoid all local spirits. Our group stayed in Vang Vieng and we drank free shots offered by one of the bars," she wrote to Laos Backpacking Facebook group.
It comes about 12 hours after the confirmed death of Australian teen Bianca Jones who was also caught up in the mass poisoning incident with her best friend Holly Bowles.It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news that our beloved daughter and sister, Bianca Jones, has passed away,” the parents said in a statement.
