Thug befriended man, stabbed, strangled him and took his bank card
A thug who befriended a man only to stab and strangle him before taking his bank card has been jailed.
Jay Hemsley was caged for eight years and 10 months at Leeds Crown Court earlier this month for wounding, strangulation and fraud. The court heard Hemsley, 27, had arrived at his friend's flat demanding money, on December 7. The friend refused but Hemsley, of Belle Isle, stayed at his friend's home anyway before stabbing and strangling him. During the vicious assault, Hemsley demanded money before leaving with the victim's bank card which he tried to use.Hemsley, who admitted Section 18 wounding, strangulation and fraud, was jailed for 106 months, a year and a further year for the three offences respectively. The sentences will be served alongside each other.
"We hope this sentencing will now bring the victim some closure as he continues to recover from this ordeal."
