Helder Costa made 71 appearances for Leeds United but his four-year association with the club has come to an end
Leeds United have confirmed winger Helder Costa has left Elland Road by mutual consent. The decision ends Costa’s four-year association with the club after joining from Wolverhampton Wanderers on an initial loan during the 2019-20 promotion winning campaign under Marcelo Bielsa.
He returned to Elland Road this summer at the start of pre-season and the expectation was that he would be a part of Daniel Farke’s plans moving into this campaign. Speaking after the club’s loss at Birmingham City in August, though, Farke explained that Costa had expressed his desire to leave the club, insisting he saw his future elsewhere.
His loan move was made permanent the following summer but he played more of a bit part role for Leeds in the top flight, making just 22 appearances, with three goals coming that season before the aforementioned loan moves.
