Wilfried Gnonto reportedly handed in a written transfer request in the build-up to Friday's match with West Brom
Leeds United fans at Elland Road made their feelings towards Wilfried Gnonto and the Whites' other wantaway players known on Friday night. Daniel Farke’s side took on West Bromwich Albion on home soil, but they were without the likes of Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra, who have refused to play in order to try and push through moves away.
Just before kick-off a report from the Athletic was published suggesting Gnonto had handed in a written transfer request to the powers that be at Elland Road following several rebuffed bids from Everton. The report also claimed that the Toffees, who have this week signed Jack Harrison on loan, were readying another bid, with Gnonto making it more than clear that he would like to leave.
Leeds fans have taken exception to such behaviour, of course, and they chose the start of Friday night’s game to show their anger and disappointment towards the Italian, who wasn’t at Elland Road. The crowd directed a song his way making it clear what they think before a banner appeared in the South Stand, featuring a picture of the Whites forward.
Sinisterra’s future remains up in the air, too, despite the expiration of the exit clause in his contract following relegation.
