Nicola Holdsworth founded Morley Grief Group after she was told she would have to wait up to eight months to see a counsellor
Three years ago Nicola Holdsworth, from Morley in Leeds, sadly lost her mum and spent most of that time struggling with the anger and sadness of grief. Channelling her pain she set up Morley Grief Group last year to help other people like herself.
"The funding means we can do things like buy a reflection bench for the whole community so you can go and think about your loved one, we wouldn't be able to buy it without the funding as they are about £1,200 and now we can. "There is also the day with the most suicides in January, the grief is so in January so we are going to do a bit of a celebration and will celebrate the groups one-year anniversary to lift people's spirits, its a very special date for us.
"Our trip to Scarborough broke my heart as one of our group members, Maureen, who is a disabled lady that the group paid for her a mobility scooter so she could come with us to Scarborough and when we were there she said to me 'I'm just going to blow a kiss to the sea Nicola because it might be the last time I see it' but now we have funding so I can take her to see the sea again.
