Palestinian human rights groups allege Israel may be using Australian technology in serious human rights abuses
Palestinian human rights groups have launched a landmark legal bid to determine whether Australian-made weapons and ammunition are being sent to Israeli forces amid its attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The groups’ solicitor, Rawan Arraf of the ACIJ, said the government should be more transparent about whether any Australian weaponry was being used in the conflict. “Countries providing arms to enable Israel’s brutal violence against the Palestinian people must be transparent. And Australia must not be complicit in that violence.”
So far, the death toll from Israeli bombings has surpassed 9,000 since the conflict began on 7 October when Hamas launched an attack that killed 1,400 Israelis across southern Israel, abducting more than 200 civilians.
“I felt the heat of the flame, and I saw the ball of fire. And every time, especially this one, I thought it’s our end,” Sourani told Democracy Now of his survival.
