The Northern Territory's Legal Aid Commission has been handed an almost $4 million funding boost, which will prevent looming service cuts that threatened to bring the territory's strapped justice system to its knees.
The Northern Territory government has announced a $3.9 million funding boost for the NT's Legal Aid Commission .
But the NT government on Thursday announced it would redirect $3.9 million to Legal Aid NT for the next financial year from within the attorney-general department's existing budget. "Individual cases will still go through the same processes of merit review … but we should be able to see those cases which are listed for trial in 2025 be able to proceed," Mr McConnel said."We're working with the Northern Territory government to … actually implement a range of measures that will bring stability to our funding arrangements into the future," he said.The $3.
