A cartoonist whose work became a much-loved part of this newspaper’s coverage of Watford FC for many years has been chosen as one of the 100 people who made Watford.
The council asked for nominations of people who played an important part in the town’s history as part of its celebrations to mark the town’s borough centenary last year. “The painting ended up serving as a metaphor for Watford FC’s way forward under Elton’s chairmanship. The painting is now on loan and can be seen at Watford Museum.
