Black Caviar, widely considered to be one of the greatest Australian racehorses of all time, has died just a day short of her 18th birthday.
Champion racehorse Black Caviar , unbeaten in each of her 25 starts, has died, prompting tributes from across the racing community.
Her dominance in the latter led to the Flemington event being renamed as The Black Caviar Lightning after her third win. "It is with deep sadness that the Madden, Hawkes, Wilkie, Taylor and Werrett families wish to advise that champion mare Black Caviar passed away peacefully today," the statement said.
