Many rates for the first hour effectively double - but the city council says change is overdue
Some parking costs in parts of Leicester will double as part of a review of charges.
Most car parks, multi-storeys and on-street pay and display areas will see an increase of £1 an hour - effectively doubling the charge for the first hour. People parking for up to three, four and five hours will now have to pay £4, £5 and £7, respectively, according to theThe option for a 15-minute stay for 20p in London Road, between its junction with Granville Road, where it merges with St George’s Way, is also set to be scrapped. But a day trip to Abbey Park could more than double in price for drivers, with the 12-hour offer set to increase to £9 from £4.
