The 26-year-old enraged Tigers fans late last year by requesting an immediate release from the club on the same day he signed a three-year, $2.2 million deal to join North Queensland in 2023.
However while Leilua has been let go by the Tigers, it now appears his bid to join the Cowboys is far from set in stone, with 7NEWS reporter Michelle Bishop revealing salary cap issues are behind the roadblock.“Luciano has been told he can go, but the Cowboys have got to work out what they can afford with the salary cap.“The conversation hasn’t been finalised about what the Wests Tigers are going to chip in.Luciano Leilua is officially in NRL limbo.
