Liddell closure is a milestone; Voice referendum; super fund investment options; rigged tender bid; Dominion v Fox; Alan Joyce’s decision-making at Qantas.

The Australian Financial ReviewWhile coal-fired power in Australia has been closing for some years, the closure of Liddell is perhaps the most significant so far. Despite some business anxiety, the transition for workers has finally “provided a blueprint” .

There is no doubt, however, that these closures will ultimately be good for the environment. It is disappointing that uncertainty surrounds the closures. These uncertainties are partly a consequence of the privatisation of our energy supplies. Private companies make decisions based on profit. I would not describe the overall survey result as “broad support” – more like “doubt about the Voice”. The key failure to date is that the PM and others who support the Voice keep telling us it’s a polite request, but then don’t tell us what it will do.

Whether the machines were programmed to favour the Democrats during the 2020 US election is more to the point. The technicalities here would require very detailed forensic examination. Going by the reports thus far published, it would be not within Rupert Murdoch’s inside knowledge of the technical details as to whether reports of election rigging were true.
