Scott Morrison: secrecy and the Constitution, the uses of superannuation, student wellbeing at school.
The governor-general may rightly claim that he was acting on the advice of the government of the day and that he reasonably thought that the government would advertise the appointments of Scott Morrison to multiple ministries. However, he does need to explain why these five appointments did not get published in his public diary, unlike other ministerial appointments.
The rest of us know why they’re keeping shtum. They are using silence to cover up the fact that the system didn’t work. The old woman’s stand-in has not done what he ought to have done. The only way for the system to work now is for the old woman to dismiss him and tell the most senior state governor to stand in for the stand-in – right? The Constitution is silent about the role of the prime minister and the cabinet. Those terms are unknown to the law.
The current method of nominating the governor-general should not be solely in the hands of the prime minister. The position of the Australian Monarchist League has for long been that the leaders of the government and the opposition should arrive at a joint nomination.Inflation-linked bonds a wise investment
A solution to the government’s wish to encourage super funds to provide long-term funds for infrastructure, including energy transition and building affordable housing, is inflation-linked bonds . To underpin a superannuation fund’s long-term performance objective by investing in inflation-linked bonds makes a lot of sense.Governments simply cannot resist tinkering with superannuation, and now Treasurer Jim Chalmers apparently wants superannuation to solve social problems, including investing in social housing .
