Police chief facing uncertain future over misconduct caseI stand firmly in support of native Oakland son, Chief LaRonne Armstrong. I might have paused long enough to learn what happened. Officer Michael Chung was involved in a hit and run, but did he cause a “ding” or did he take another car’s bumper off? Please get your news from several sources before reacting.
Anne Kirkpatrick, the first female chief of police, served in Spokane, Wash., prior to moving to Oakland. A friend from Spokane said that nobody there liked her. Clearly, that was the perfect training for Oakland. Kirkpatrick served for three years before being fired. I am “woke,” but I refused to become wacky. Oakland city politics are clearly wacky. If Oakland is not able to support Chief Armstrong, I fear the city will be unable to find a competent professional willing to serve as our police chief.
These killings never stop even in a state with “strict gun laws” — demonstrating the power of an industry that has embedded a far-right interpretation of the Second Amendment into our laws and culture, strangling serious attempts to limit the murdering. What can be done? Vote, knowing that change will take a long time. Vote for those who do something about gun violence. Honor the victims. Vote.The absurdity of this Marc Thiessen column. What do men have to do with abortion, other than providing sperm? Yet, this article is full of one man’s name after another, talking about how great the new pro-life decision overturning Roe v. Wade is. Not one woman was named in the article. Not one woman’s stance was cited.
