John Abernethy’s helpful article highlighted how gaining political mileage by Anthony Albanese and Labor to push for a 5+per cent wage increase for the basic wage was preferred to adjusting the tax rate to provide a similar outcome but without the inflationary push.That’s where political mileage trumps economic common sense.
I don’t recall the RBA ever recommending house owners to limit their asking prices in order to arrest runaway house price inflation, as the housing market was fuelled with rock-bottom interest rates and money printing. One can only hope that the Greens heed Pocock’s suggestion and accept Labor’s 43 per cent as a floor rather than destroy the target and end up with nothing.The Albanese government blames the former Liberal/National Coalition government for the present debacle in the national electricity market.
Solar panels lose 50 per cent of their capacity in cold, cloudy and rainy weather. As well, the wind does not always blow with enough force to turn wind turbines. Then there is battery storage – quite expensive.Modern managers, that group of people who rely on means and averages, cannot analyse generation fluctuations, cannot construct three-dimensional graphs nor fathom the importance of essential maintenance, stockpiling and futures trading.
Also, it paints a gloomy picture of people being forced into having a superannuation account which should have moved people to the Coalition, but didn’t and probably will not.
