If I made less money, my premiums would go down. It seems the Texas government encourages people not to succeed. I did not take a dime of the stimulus , I put myself through college and I’ve worked my whole adult life. This story regarding China purging “Western erroneous views” from education and the recruitment of students to report professors who speak positively about the West made me ponder what it must be like to live in a country where schools are purged of ideas because they do not echo the leader’s narrative.

It was shocking to read that it will take 300 years to achieve gender equity on the current track. As we celebrated International Women’s Day last week, this is an outrage! In 2017 the U.S. passed The READ Act but it must be reauthorized. The READ Act addresses barriers to children’s school attendance, retention and completion, especially for girls. The READ Act Reauthorization ensures that the U.S. government updates its strategy to improve basic education. It requires rigorous monitoring and reporting.

It’s then up to another 17 months before the Legislature convenes again for the next session. This seems to me to be too much power for one person to wield.Everyone is entitled to the pursuit of happiness, whatever that means for them. For many, fine arts is that joy. Yet, students throughout the nation have their happiness stolen because of one issue — budget cuts.
