Re: “Where patient lived cost him needed care — Texas can save money and lives by expanding Medicaid,” by Aman Narayan, Wednesday Opinion. I agree with this...
Readers appreciate Parkland hospital; worry nothing will stop mass shootings; suggest using Rainy Day funds for Texas parks; offer a solution to making lobbying work better; and miss Cary Middle School.
It makes no sense that a person who literally lives across the street from the county line cannot get the stellar assistance and care provided by Parkland, one of the best hospitals in the country. The cost of denying care is ultimately greater than the cost of providing it.The murder of three students at Michigan State University, the most recent in a long list of mass killings, brought forth the usual barrage of outrage, anger and grief.
After decades of debate and meager results, beginning with commendable ideas like registration and licensing of firearms, and continuing today with discussions of red-flag laws, universal background checks and other commonsense approaches to gun violence, have we reached a point in our country where it is just too late to fix this problem?
Although it is probably too late for Fairfield Lake State Park, look into the possibility of purchasing the land of the other state parks in question. We need these already developed state parks for the enjoyment of the citizens of Texas.
