Re: “Something to think about,” by Jimmie George, Nov. 14 Letters. First, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Mr. George for the loss of his wife....

Readers disagree the Biden administration has failed polities; discuss how students have test anxiety; would like to see reform of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act; talk about the world’s population reaching 8 billion; and suggest eliminating paper tags.

Those same prominent politicians claimed it was against their rights and freedoms to be made to wear a mask, yet they took away the rights and freedoms of women to choose body autonomy. If you truly care about children, perhaps give thought to the 30,000 children in the Texas foster care system. Also, Texas maternal death numbers are abysmal.

Students get test anxiety when the pressures are great to pass. Imagine taking your first written or driving test or a college entrance exam. There are adults who struggle and get test anxiety to pass it the first time. In real life, it is not a big deal and adults will go back and review the material to take it again.

Students can get into college with a GED, private school diploma and even through home schools. They do not have to take the STAAR Exam. Reform must start with a discussion among people from both the right and the left on what basis social media companies should be granted protection from liability for what is posted. At a minimum, any immunity must be based upon an obligation of these companies to take down incitements to violence, true threats, deliberate and intentional harassment and content that is otherwise illegal under law, such as language constituting libel.
