In return, Paxton either pressured them into leaving their positions or face being fired. They then filed suit against Paxton for violating whistleblower laws. It’s pretty clear that Paxton uses his office to advance his political agenda instead of serving the people of Texas. But the people of Texas have elected him to the office of attorney general three times! There is no longer any point in expressing outrage. It is obvious most people in Texas do not care.Re: “Paxton won’t pay, we will,” by Vincentia Civello, and “Taxpayers stuck with bills,” by Juley Welch, Tuesday Letters.

Ken Paxton was charged with two felonies seven years ago for securities fraud. He has avoided his day in court as he jockeys for a change of venue, and we pay millions for his over-priced attorneys. And now this. No wonder he is confident he can get away with it. The financial shenanigans in this state after nearly three decades of Republican control is terrifying, yet an amazing largesse for those who have untold wealth from our citizen’s need for energy, insurance and communication.Michael Janicek, Dallas/The CedarsYou’ve got to be kidding me! After insulting his employees, calling them names and attempting to disgrace them, Attorney General Ken Paxton has now decided it’s time to call a truce and work out a mediated settlement of $3.

So we have a state surplus of money right now. Let’s not pour it down a rat hole rather than doing good with it.What a shameful absurdity! “…a settlement means…no admission of ‘liability or fault’ by any party”... But, by apologizing for “referring to them as ‘rouge employees,’” Ken Paxton is admitting fault. And that would be personal fault, not the fault of the state.
