If they have the smarts to know when they are being sold a bill of goods from someone who is absolutely stuffed full of blueberry muffins, then college students are certainly smart enough to know when they are as well. It is time to acknowledge the domestic threat and take steps to curb the armed terrorist copycats who will be unleashed across the country, seeking recognition and fame by additional attacks on our vulnerable power systems. What was unthinkable to most of America at one time has now become a reality. Let’s hope and pray our fragile Texas power grid is spared.Re: “439 Churches allowed to leave — 2 United Methodist conferences in Texas hold special sessions,” Dec. 4 news story.
This subtle distinction is important to point out so that readers do not affiliate the UMC with being anti-LGBTQ, when it is quite the opposite. The breakup has been painful for all involved; however, I think all involved are ready to move forward with the healing and getting back to what they do best, which is hopefully spreading the word of God and Jesus’ love.
In his essay, Ted Moore referenced the Gun Violence Archive’s report, which reveals there have been 611 mass shootings in the U.S. this year. Isn’t this statistic alone enough to call for all future assault-style rifle sales, public or private, to be banned? Let’s join the president and demand our congressional representatives vote to make national sales illegal.
