— I would like to give a big thank-you to Oncor in McKinney for replacing the streetlight in front of my house. I noticed it out on a Friday night and called Oncor at about 5 p.m. on the following Sunday. The very nice woman with Oncor, Regina, took my information and said it would take up to five days to replace.

However, on Monday at 8:30 a.m., Oncor was in front of my house replacing the streetlight. The company’s promptness and professional service are very appreciated.— Re: “Finalist for leader is No. 2 in district — Deputy superintendent Rivera chosen to succeed retiring chief Vroonland,” Feb. 17 Metro & Business story.

Congratulations to Angel Rivera for his selection as the next superintendent of the Mesquite ISD. Would that Dallas ISD trustees show the same good sense and select DISD Deputy Superintendent Susana Cordova as the district’s next superintendent. She checks all the boxes and has been doing an outstanding job.

Cordova not only has all the experience and education needed, but she is a wonderful human being who is honest, compassionate, community-minded and energetic. Let’s hope DISD follows Mesquite’s example on selecting the best qualified and proven candidate.
