The 27-year old played 83 consecutive games including every home and away match in the 2023 campaign before being axed ahead of the Pies premiership run. That, combined with Noble spending a part of the start of this season outside the senior team, had the dasher ultimately convinced he was best served at a new home for 2025.
“I haven’t asked John that, but I would’ve thought when you get dropped for the finals last year, I’m sure that thought would’ve popped into his mind: ‘Is this where I see a long-term future? Because I thought I was going OK but the biggest disappointment of my career has just unfolded before my eyes?’,” he added.
It came despite interest from other clubs including Port Adelaide before the New South-Wales-born 25-year old elected to join the Pies, who he grew up supporting and is expected to get more midfield time at. “I think there is an opportunity for him at Collingwood to run through the middle of the ground that little bit more and that also appealed to him.”
