The info you'll need ahead of Sunday
The parade will start at the Civic Centre in Leyland at 10.35am and will be led by the Mayor of South Ribble, Councillor David Howarth. He will be joined by Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire, Charles Hadcock, members of the Royal British Legion, representatives from local regiments and veterans along with members of South Ribble Borough Council.
The procession will walk along Lancastergate, onto Tesco Car Park towards the Leyland Cross where wreaths will be laid, then will exit onto Church Road and proceed towards the War Memorial, then on to St Andrew’s Church in Leyland for a church service. The parade will then return on the same route back to the Civic Centre.
Residents are encouraged by the council to attend the event and line the route to pay their respects and take time to reflect on all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life in conflicts past and present. Councillor David Howarth said: “Remembrance Sunday and the ceremonial Remembrance Sunday parade allows us all, locally, right across the nation and beyond to take the time pay our respects to all of those we have lost through conflict past and present. While it allows us to remember the past, it also allows us all to reflect on current conflicts and to reinforce our call for peace.
“The parade in Leyland allows us to all come together as a community to mark this poignant occasion and it is a real honour to be able to lead the parade as Mayor this year. I welcome all of the community to come along and join us. We will remember them.”
