Who will be next?
LG has just announced that it is suspending shipments of all of its products to Russia with immediate effect in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.“LG Electronics is suspending all shipments to Russia and will continue to keep a close watch on the situation as it unfolds.
We are deeply concerned for the health and safety of all people, and LG remains committed to supporting humanitarian relief efforts.” LG Electronics is of course by no means the first electronics manufacturer to pull the plug on its Russian operation while the Ukraine conflict rages on. Apple was one of the earliest tech companies to make the move, with Qualcomm, Intel, Microsoft, Nokia and Ericsson also joining the exodus in early March.foreseeable future.
With no imminent end to the conflict definitively in sight at the time of writing, as the number of high profile electronics brands taking a stance on Russia grows, so the pressure will surely grow on other brands that have yet to make the move to follow suit. So I think we can be pretty confident that LG’s declaration today will not be by any means the end of this particular thread of the Russia/Ukraine tragedy.
