Liam Kelly has cleared the way for a return to Rangers this summer after Motherwell confirmed he will exit the club.
The Fir Park No1 has decided to move on after a three-and-a-half year spell with the club. He has been a consistent figure between the nets for the Steelmen with his form being rewarded by Steve Clarke in the Scotland set-up. He was handed a first cap in a friendly with France while he is also part of the 28-man provisional squad for Euro 2024 this summer alongside Angus Gunn, Zander Clark and Craig Gordon.
His form has attracted interest from former club Rangers with Philippe Clement ready to add to his ranks this summer. We exclusively told you last night how Aberdeen have current Ibrox No2 Robby McCrorie on their goalkeeper wishlist as he looks to get out and get first-team football under his belt after playing the understudy role in recent years. That would open the door for a swoop for Kelly to make an emotional return to Ibrox after departing years ago.
Blair Spittal, Callan Elliot, Calum Butcher, Barry Maguire have also left at the end of their contracts. Georgie Gent, Adam Devine, Adam Montgomery, Oli Shaw and Jack Vale all return to their parent clubs after the end of their loan deals. Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell said: "Liam Kelly will also be departing this summer, after a tremendous three-and-a-half years at Motherwell. He has been an excellent player to work with, who on top of performing on the pitch, has been a leader behind the scenes. He has ensured every player has been welcomed and enjoyed being in the dressing room. He moves on with our best wishes."
