‘Liar in the Lodge’: Peta Credlin accuses Labor of trying to ‘rewrite history’
Labor shouldn’t be able to get away with trying to “rewrite history” as the Prime Minister remains the one who broke a major election promise, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin. The Coalition announced on Tuesday it would back the federal government’s amendments to the stage three tax cuts following a party room meeting.
However, the opposition will also seek to make some amendments to Labor's changes, but it remains unclear as to what this would be. Ms Credlin backed the Coalition for its move to support the changes, saying it denies Labor the opportunity to “drive a wedge” and paint the Liberal Party as uncaring on cost of living. “Well, as the Coalition Party Room decided today, they're not blocking these changes so there goes the wedge,” she said. “Today, some in Labor were trying to run the line that Dutton's decision to let the cuts pass somehow makes the Prime Minister less of a liar after breaking his word, but that doesn't wash either. “It's the Prime Minister who said ‘my word is my bond’, it's the prime minister who is in charge of the government and as a consequence tax policy, and it's the prime minister who has broken his word.”
