Liberal candidate's hacking claim over lewd post to be investigated by federal police auspol

A Liberal candidate's claim that a lewd Facebook post about feminists was doctored would be investigated by federal police, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said.

Liberal candidate Jessica Whelan is embroiled in controversy over what she says is a doctored Facebook post. The furore led to farcical scenes in Tasmania where Mr Morrison campaigned on Thursday, with Ms Whelan refusing to answer reporters' questions. Labor's candidate for Melbourne, Luke Creasey, also faced questions about his past social media comments as a Facebook post emerged where he appeared to suggest a lesbian couple end up sharing a single vagina. While Labor is calling on Jessica Whelan to stand down, it is refusing to disendorse Mr Creasey who has already been forced to apologise for sharing a rape joke and pornographic material on his Facebook page in 2012.
