The Victorian Liberal Party is hoping an Oxford-educated Liberal blue-blood can win back Josh Frydenberg’s former seat of Kooyong, choosing Amelia Hamer as its candidate for the next election.

The Liberal Party is hoping a 31-year-old Liberal blue-blood can win back Josh Frydenberg’s former seat of Kooyong from Teal Monique Ryan, preselecting Amelia Hamer as its candidate for the next election.

Chair of Transgender Victoria Rochelle Pattison came a distant second in the Kooyong preselection with 59 votes, while tax lawyer Michael Flynn and vascular surgeon Susan Morris achieved 20 votes and 15 votes respectively. However, the seat was lost in the Teal wave of 2022, with Monique Ryan winning it on a two-party-preferred margin of 2.9 per cent.

"I am running to serve my community, not with empty slogans, but by actually doing something for the residents of Kooyong." She also had a message for young people, stating"we are on the same side, and we can work together for a better future".
