“That shows you that when you put some decent policies together … in relation to the economy and childcare and emissions reduction and the like, you can hang on to these seats,” he said.But federal Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce, a former party leader, claimed the result showed the opposite and criticised the former treasurer and energy minister Matt Kean for his more progressive stance on climate issues.
