Senator Lidia Thorpe has accused an ABC presenter of silencing the 'No' campaign ahead of the Voice to Parliament referendum and “setting black women up against one another” in a tense interview on Radio National.

Senator Lidia Thorpe has lashed an ABC presenter for not allowing audiences to hear the"No" campaign for the Voice to Parliament referendum.

“White progressives think they know best for us, and they think this is a good thing for us, but they haven’t dug deep enough and allowed those grassroots black activists to have a say,” she said. The awkward back-and-forth continued until Karvelas interrupted Ms Thorpe’s criticism of the Voice as a “powerless advisory body” to ask a question of the Senator.

“You’re on the radio station so they’re hearing you, but the counterfactual,” Karvelas started before she was interrupted by Ms Thorpe.
