Lifetime car salesman has easy tip for telling if a car has been in a wreck.
When buying a used car, you have to do your due diligence to make sure you're getting something good. A vehicle history report should indicate if the car has been in an accident, yet sometimes things go unreported. In this video from Reddit, a veteran car salesman shares a great way to determine if a car has been in a front-end collision.

Using a blue Subaru BRZ, the salesman points out that the panel gap between the leading edge of the door and the front fender is unusually small. This can be a sign that the front end has been pushed backwards after a collision, and while even a good bodyshop can fix a lot of major damage, this is an area that is often missed. If you watch the whole video, it becomes quite obvious the salesman was correct in his assessment, his years of experience paying off here.
While it's not necessarily bad to buy a car that's been wrecked and repaired, you'll want to know what you're getting beforehand. A wreck can negatively affect a car's value going forward—perhaps a good thing if you're a deal-seeker—and you want to know that if it's been repaired, that it's structurally sound. You wouldn't want to buy a car with a clean history report and then spot mismatched panels indicating previous damage.
