Barrera, a Corpus Christi native, is the founder of LiftFund, a San Antonio-based micro and small business lender that provides financial support and management training to enterprises, from startups to long established businesses. Its mission is to provide a pathway to business and financial success while helping people access those opportunities. Success! You're on the list.
“LiftFund is in the best financial position that we’ve ever been in,” said Barrera. “What that does is, I can breathe a little bit better because I know that something that was created … [is] a legacy.” Previously, Barrera has been named Small Business Administration Financial Services Advocate of the Year and the Minority Enterprise Development Consortium’s Corporate Advocate of the Year, and she was named to theIn 2011, President Barack Obama appointed Barrera to the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability, and in 2015, Barrera was inducted into the San Antonio Business Hall of Fame.
Barrera’s commitment to the San Antonio Report lies partly in the fact that it is a relative newcomer to the city’s media landscape, she said.
