Lily Gladstone gives a staggering performance as Mollie, but Martin Scorsese ’s script is far too stuck at the pitch of awe to interrogate her humanity. Not the dust-riddled, mud-caked land of 1920s Oklahoma . Not the desolate frown Leonardo DiCaprio never wipes off his face. Not the graying force of Robert De Niro.
