EXCLUSIVE: Lioness Beth Mead revealed that Prince William's face 'lit up' when he awarded her with an MBE in the 2023 New Year Honours, as the royal was keen to discuss the game
It's no secret that Prince William is an avid football fan, with the royal showing public support for the England Women's National Team, the Lionesses, on numerous occasions.
Beth continued that William, who is an Aston Villa fan at heart, had done his research and knew she suffered a knee injury earlier in the year. She explained: "It was an easy conversation with him because of that common interest. As President of the Football Association , Prince William plays a key role in supporting various teams in their competitions around the world.
"That’s fine, but it creates a lot more pressure. We don’t want it to go down the route of the men’s game and how the fans and people act in men’s football, which it kind of is at the moment. But I think that’s the balance we have to find while pushing the game to a different level."
