EXCLUSIVE: A Sky News investigation has revealed the NSW Government has failed to introduce a revolutionary communications technology across all its disaster response agencies.

Its widespread introduction has stalled despite the brief of the NSW Resilience Commission to work closely with the Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service to minimise the impact of floods and bushfires.

It was considered so impressive – the NSW Rural Fire Service agreed to adopt the technology - before failing to roll it out in time for the catastrophic Black Summer bushfires of 2019/2020. Earlier Mr Fitszimmons – wh0 had been made Resilience Commissioner in April 2020 - told the Royal Commission: “That’s one of the big lessons we have had out of this season was … our resource tracking systems are rudimentary and they need to be more sophisticated and more mature and that’s going to be part of the strategy going forward."

SHANE FITZSIMMONS: OK I don't mean to be repetitive, but I don’t manage the flood response. The flood responses is managed by the state emergency service.
