MORNING BRIEFING: A car crashes into the Georges River in Sydney's inner-west and police urge an anonymous caller to contact them again with information about the hit-and-run death of a New Zealand firefighter in the Hunter region.

Three people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed off a bridge and into a river in Sydney's inner-west.

From today, the cap on returned travellers allowed back into New South Wales from overseas will be raised by 500 per week. The new limit will see around 420 people arriving a day internationally in Sydney, with mandatory hotel quarantine still in place.Police are appealing for an anonymous caller to come forward again to help the investigation into the death of a man in the NSW Hunter region.

An anonymous caller told police the vehicle returned to the scene and the people inside approached Mr Pullen while he was still alive.
