MORNING BRIEFING: The University of Technology Sydney advises staff to stop teaching topics that may be politically sensitive to China, while a resident of the Newmarch aged care home records a false positive COVID-19 test result.

An internal university memo obtained by the ABC highlighted concerns the Chinese Government may "turn off" all communication from the university over any teaching material that may be seen as politically sensitive. "We can confirm the resident who originally tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday at Newmarch House is now negative," spokesman Chris Pettett said.
Former Sydney Olympics Minister, Michael Knight, has paid tribute to volunteers from the 2000 games, saying they made a unique contribution. "The Sydney volunteers took it to a whole new level and no one's matched the Sydney volunteers … and the spirit that they had," he said.
