Firefighters and police are on the scene
The blaze has broken out a number of floors up from the fast-food restaurant in Piccadilly Gardens. .
Pictures show smoke billowing from a window near the top of the building. A ladder and hoses are being used to extinguish the flames.Police have set up cordon and are 'managing crowd'A number of police vehicles are also on the scene within the cordon.A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said:
“Shortly after 11am today five fire engines from Manchester Central, Moss Side, Salford, Blackley, and Broughton fire stations were called to reports of a fire involving a commercial building on Market Street, Manchester. "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are using two hose reels and a jet to tackle the fire. Crews remain in attendance.”A number of police and fire vehicles are on the scene.
